Role and ResponsibilitiesThe role of a project engineer is to support the Project Manager and be responsible for the oversight of most major aspects of construction work, including organizing the acquisition of materials, equipment and workers, planning for costs, and supporting the Project Manager on various tasks.
The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, but will work closely and report to a supervisor or manager.
This position works on projects of limited complexity in a support role.
Coordinates with project architects, designers, owners, and field personnel.
Responsible for generating Request for Information (RFI) and submittals.
May be responsible for bid analysis, constructability reviews, and permit processing.
Inspects all work to assure compliance with plans and specifications.
Offers technical information to project supervisor to ensure work complies with applicable codes, drawings, and specifications.
General understanding of project budget; assist with buyouts Monitor and track project quality control metrics and activities on a regular basis, provide timely and accurate quality reports, and raise issues to PM or Superintendent as appropriate.
Assist in the development of cost estimates Review plans and other technical documents Answer questions regarding the scope and/or timing of the project Assist the project team with site safety documentation and coordination Monitor costs and project progress Maintain control of all project documentation Plan and organize construction engineering projects from conception to completion.
Generation of project punch list and closeout documentation.
Qualifications and Education RequirementsDegree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or related field of studyDemonstrated expertise (either through internships or work experience) in commercial projects (i.
e.
tenant improvements, multi-family and multi-use, corporate and institutional structures)Ability to read and comprehend plans and specificationsExcellent communications skills required for interaction with vendors, designers, consultants, and clients.
Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills and ability to meet deadlines.
